Bass Fishing For superb Bass Fishing check out Tuckers Bass Fishing

Fresh water aspects of angling are covered by Trout fishing, in rivers, streams, and dams. What better way to spend a day than fly fishing in the Drakensberg mountains? Bass fishing dams are close to us. Carp fishing is a major interest in South Africa with ideal conditions for them to grow to a huge size. Bass fishing is a popular event with many competitions available. There are a lot of Barbel (Catfish) available to catch.

Salt water angling in South Africa is amongst the best in the world, for the purpose of this website I will concentrate on angling which is easily accessed from Umkomaas guest house. This includes the coast line North and South of Durban. We are situated on the Kwazulu Natal South coast approximately 30 minutes from Durban. I will include all aspects of sea angling and as much information as possible ie Charter fishing, Surf fishing, Rock fishing, Estuary and river fishing. I will also include fish species and techniques to catch them.

Surf and Estuary species   Karanteen , Springer, Mullet, Blacktail, Stone Bream

Rock and Surf species Grunter, Shad, Bronze Bream, Kingfish, Stumpnose, Brusher, Musselcracker, Salmon (Kob), Pompano, Brusher,

Surf and Ski boat species Wahoo, Couta, (King Mackerel), Garrick, Bonito, Yellow Fin Tuna, Dorado, Sailfish, Marlin

Rock and Surf / Ski Boat  "The heavies" can be caught from the beach or ski boat include Sharks and Sand Sharks (Guitar Fish)

Charter fishing boats can be accessed from many places along the coast line Durban, Shelley beach, Rocky bay.

Charter boats can be chartered from Umkomaas village and "launch" through the surf. Alternatively varies charters launch from Rocky Bay from the local ski boat club which includes a launch ramp and cafe.
